Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

Bessanora collects only the data necessary to provide our gift message generation service:

  • Shop domain and session data — for Shopify authentication and app functionality.
  • Gift message metadata — occasion, tone, relationship, and generated message text.
  • Usage records — generation counts, timestamps, and billing data.

What we do NOT collect:

Customer names, emails, addresses, or payment information. Gift message "From" and "To" names live in Shopify's line item properties, not in our database.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • AI message generation — message text is sent to the Anthropic API for generation.
  • Billing and usage tracking — to manage your subscription and credit usage.
  • App functionality and improvement — to maintain and enhance the service.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Bessanora:

  • Anthropic — AI message generation. Message text is sent for generation only and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the request.
  • Shopify — Platform provider. Handles merchant authentication, billing, and order data.
  • Fly.io — Application hosting.
  • Cloudflare — Turnstile widget on our contact form for spam prevention.
  • Cloudflare Pages — Marketing site hosting.

4. Data Retention

  • Data is retained while the app is installed on your store.
  • On uninstall, sessions are deleted immediately.
  • Within 48 hours of uninstall, all shop data is hard-deleted via Shopify's shop/redact webhook.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access your data — request a copy of the data we hold about your store.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data at any time.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

6. Cookies

  • Session cookies for Shopify authentication only.
  • No tracking cookies or analytics cookies in the app.
  • This marketing site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which does not use tracking cookies.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
